The second membership spotlight of the semester is Camellia Brown! She just joined PRSSA this month, and she is already standing out!
Here is a Q & A session with Camellia:
Q: Where are you from? What is your major/minor?
A: I’m from Philadelphia and my major is Public Relations.
Q: How long have you been a member of PRSSA?
A: I just joined PRSSA this month.
Q: Why do you love PRSSA? What do you hope to get out of it?
A: I love PRSSA because of the extensive help they provide within the Public Relations community. Joining PRSSA made me feel like I was going to be a part of something bigger, while also learning more about bettering myself professionally and self-consciously. I hope that I learn a lot more about the PR industry, how to become a more polished PR professional and to make new friends.
Q: What committee are you a part of? What have you done with this committee?
A: I just joined the Public Relations committee and I will be attending my first meeting pretty soon.
Q: What PRSSA events have you participated in?
A: Since I’ve just joined PRSSA I’ve recently been to an event called “Networking 101” by PRSA, but I do plan on volunteering at the cafe event coming up next month.
Q: What other TU organizations are you a part of?
A: Currently, I’m trying to focus my attention on myself and my profession as freshman year wasn’t my best year. But next semester I would like to join two more organizations or clubs.
Q: Coolest place you’ve ever traveled to? A: The coolest place that I’ve been to was Washington D.C, I went on an all-expense-paid trip with a non-profit that I’m an ambassador for called College Possible. They focus on low-income students and they help with the college application process, SAT prep, and scholarship applications. I was able to speak with state representatives about how there
should be an increase in the pell grant so that it would possibly help students with big or small gaps in their financial aid.
Q: Favorite social media platform and why? A: I love Instagram I’m on it all day every day looking at social media influencers like Nikita Dragon, Bretman Rock, and Salice Rose. Or just seeing what my fellow female followers are up to.
Q: Dream job?
A: My dream job is to work in New York City with a company that really cares about its employees and clients. I would like to help companies re-brand themselves via social media since it’s so up and coming. New York City is the closest place that is full of fashion and media. So if I could work for a company that allows me to express my creativity through my outfits or cool earrings that would be a plus.
