I know, I know. Preachy title. But, a generic phrase never rang so true. If there’s one thing I’ve learned since coming to Temple, it’s to simply be yourself. You are your own best friend. When it all comes down to it, you have to go to bed with yourself every night. If you don’t like what you see when you look in the mirror, how can anyone else?
This past year, I’ve learned a lot about self-love. Guess what? I was that guy that didn’t like what he saw when he looked in the mirror. Eventually, I realized that I wasn’t being my authentic self. While this blog may seem riddled with tongue-and-cheek clichés, I can promise you that everything I’m saying is true and directly from the heart.
It takes a lot of guts to be open and honest with yourself. Yes, you are your own best friend, but you are also your own worst enemy. I often found myself scared of the unknown and hiding in my own insecurities.
Here’s my advice to you: Be. Brave.
Once you free yourself of all toxic energy, you are able to grow. Surround yourself with good people. Hug your family. Tell people you love them. Choose kindness. It’s free!
You hold your own destiny. Be that person who everyone loves being around. Be that person who makes everyone laugh. Be that person who lights up a room the second they walk into it.
Be YOU. You are enough.
I hope that this blog inspires you to be the best version of yourself. Why? Because you deserve it. Always remember that you have someone cheering you
