kim_leungKim is a sophomore at Temple University majoring in strategic communication with a concentration in public relations. She’s also minoring in general business studies. Since joining Temple PRSSA last fall, Kim has gotten involved in our chapter by participating in various community service events and working closely with our Conference Coordinator, Gabby Lacherza, to execute our annual TU Invitational. Kim is currently a staff member for PRowl Public Relations and was actively involved in the multimedia section of The Temple News last school year.

Hometown: Vernon, NJ

Why do you love PRSSA? I love PRSSA because it allows me to learn more about the public relations field out of the typical classroom setting. PRSSA has also introduced me to other students who are striving for similar goals. Building these connections with my peers has definitely given me a sense motivation to keep working towards my own future career.

What committee are you in and what have you done with the committee this semester? I was heavily involved with the TU Invitational sub-committee.

Dream Job: While I don’t have an exact dream job, anything involving fitness and healthcare in New York City would be ideal.

Favorite social media platform: Instagram! I also love Twitter, but pictures are more appealing to me than 140 characters.

Coolest place you’ve ever traveled to: I’ve been fortunate to visit to all of the major Caribbean islands, however, the Virgin Islands have the best beaches by far!

Member Spotlight: Mile Sakic

mile_sakicMile is a senior at Temple University double majoring in spanish and strategic communication with a concentration in public relations. She’s also minoring in general business studies. Mile joined Temple PRSSA over two years ago and has been a active participant in our chapter ever since. From contributing to our newsletter for several semesters to participating in the mentorship program and attending many PRSSA events, Mile has truly taken advantage of all PRSSA has to offer. In addition to being a member of PRSSA, she’s also a staff member for PRowl Public Relations, a Temple University Diamond Leader and a member of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society. Mile also works as a Resident Assistant in White Hall.

Hometown: Lancaster, PA

Why do you love PRSSA? I joined PRSSA my sophomore year hoping to learn more about public relations and to create professional and personal relationships. Since joining, that is exactly what I have done. My love for the communications field has grown and I now have a better understanding of what I want to do after graduating. Along the way, I’ve also been able to meet knowledgeable professionals who enjoy helping college students develop professionally. I may not have learned everything I now know about public relations if I hadn’t joined, and I hope after graduating in May, I can continue to stay involved and give back to the members of PRSSA.

What committee are you in and what have you done with the committee this semester? I am in the newsletter committee and will be writing about how I took charge of my public relations education during my time at Temple. I love being part of the newsletter committee because it helps me both to improve and be more creative with my writing.

Dream Job: Work in marketing communications for a global corporation and be in charge of their internship program, leadership development programs and diversity initiatives.

Favorite social media platform: LinkedIn and Twitter – they’re both great for staying in touch with others, staying aware of what’s going on in the news and learning of new job opportunities.

Coolest place you’ve ever traveled to: Spain- I studied abroad there for a month last summer and fell head-over-heels in love with the culture.
